We stopped for lunch and then it was on to Rise Again. This was a nice and easy find -- I think the quickest we've ever had. We parked less than 20 feet from the cache and found it quickly. The real trick was to sign the log and put it back stealthily as Saturday mass was just letting out. I think I got some wierd looks from the parishoners as I was snapping pictures of the boys.
I wish every one of these today could have been so easy! Alas, it was not meant to be....
After this cache we went to try O RLY? As we were driving past the site of part 2 I realized that was probably it, as I noticed the missing monument -- I hadn't known they moved it to Highland Park. We went to Highland and solved the puzzle anyway, and I knew at a glance that I was right.
After this we decided to try In Their Darkened Shrines. I'm still suffering from that one. If I could have sent the boys in they would have had a much easier time, as I was completely bent in half in the tunnel. But their dad would have killed me if I did that, and I didn't trust either one of them to find it if I had sent them in. So I braved (suffered) it, and despite how far in I managed to go, I could not find anything. It sucked. As I told the boys, I never in my life felt claustrophobic, until today. I could barely breathe and was sure I was going to die. I don't want to ever do that again. But, I'm anal about finding caches, so provided it's confirmed to be there, I will go in after it again. I'm stupid.
On the way out of their I snagged my pants on a stick and ripped a slash in them. Great. That put an end to our caching for the day. I had a couple more planned that would have to be saved for another day.
I decided to take a different way home to see if there were any people around part 2 of O RLY? If there weren't I thought we'd go for it, despite the hole in my pants. Well, there were no people, and we did stop, but couldn't find it anywhere. What a disappointment!
Hopefully we'll have more caching tomorrow and more successes. It's disheartening when you come up empty.
