 |  Other Times Than Peace, by David Drake
Centurion Marcus Vibius Taena -- better known as Ranuculus, or "Froggy" -- is the hard-bitten commander of the Third Century of the Rome's Fourth Cohort, part of one of the legions gone east under Crassius disastrous campaign to conquer Parthia. When Crassius crumpled, the survivors of the Third Century were captured and sold. To whom?
A better question would be: to what?
"Lambs to the Slaughter" is just one of the short stories in the compilation of military science-fiction by David Drake, famed author of the "Hammer's Slammers" series. Jackalgirl is particularly fond of the 3rd Century stories. This book was released on a journey to the Middle East as a result of The Finding Irish 4's to support the MAGC Forward Members Event (GC1HEP). Thank you for your service, and cache on!
