Gatoulis, dear friend, the cache I found your TWR coin in (GC1JNKK) is a 400 meters walk from my house (in a straight line that is). I will show you around a bit. I live in a new suburb of the old town of Amersfoort.
To retrieve this coin I only have to cross a field (last photo). Under the grass, a thick layer of sand protects the oldest remains of people living in this area. It is a early medivial farmhouse, dated 800 AC. In that time Amersfoort too was mainly a big pool of water. Well, most of the year because of the flodding of the river the Eem and some smaller streams, although we are living above sealevel as a result of sediments from ice age IV.
Anyway, across the field there is a old manor. On the manor they have build a copy of the medivial farmhouse that was excavated. Once a month you can have a “living history” experience and go back in time with people that run this farm. Kids can sleep there too on these occasions.
The manor layes in between suburbs and serves as a local park now. I go for a walk there quiet often. The manorhouse still exist too, It was build in the 19th century.
There is not much Bike Awareness to do around here, since motorvihicels are not allowed on the manor.
Well Gatoulis, I’m glad to have shown you a little bit of my home town. Now, let’s go on to the next cache in Berlin (I hope).
May your coin spread a lot of Bike Awareness and travel savely to Rhodes.
With love from Amersfoort,
Sivota
