The Arkaroo went to maintain his geocache The Pinnacles (GC2J7JJ) with this Travel Bug in his pockets:
Boys and Girls, here you go! New cache in place again with the new logbook listing all previous finds and the current issue. We'll keep an eye on this, especially during heavy weather.
Unfortunately, the Travel Bug "Ramona's Angel" (TB3E46J) may have lost his life here...
Careful forensic investigations led to the conclusions, that some water may run down the crack where the cache is located. Despite the rocks placed downstream, it must have been enough to wash it away. The rocks, however, were still in place, so the currents cannot be that excessive. Therefore, we developed a so-called Cache Catching Cage, made up by a mesh squeezed between the rocks, containing the waterproof cache itself. The Cache Catching Cage is designed to open from the uphill side, so that flowing waters flush the cache into the cage. Although the Cache Catching Cage is cached between the boulders, Cache Catching Cage Securing Rocks have been placed on the downhill side of the Cache Catching Cage, which are supposed not to be moved by cachers. After displacing a small rock, the Cache Catching Cage Cover mesh can be easily flipped on the uphill side of the Cache Catching Cage to retrieve the cache by the cacher and sign the cache log.
Hope, that helps!
