In 1307, many of the Order's members in France were arrested, tortured into giving false confessions, and then burned at the stake in the name of the inquisition.The Templar legends are connected with the Order's early occupation of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, and speculation about what relics the Templars may have found there, such as the Holy Grail or the secret about the real meaning of the Holy Maria.
