Current Goal

Just keep me moving! If you happen to be an Amateur Radio Operator I'd love a picture of me with your station, or just a cool photo of where I've been, but more then anything I just want to travel!

(Remember to not show my secret code in your photo!)

*As owner of this Travel Bug I give permission to any and all cachers to take my Travel Bug in disregard to any rules on a Cache stating you must leave a TB to take a TB. The owner of its current cache has no control over my TB, and I see any attempts to restrict the movement of my TB as kidnapping or theft. Please help me move freely and without restrictions.

About This Item

Catch the Amateur Radio Bug

I am a PL259 Coax Cable connector, something that any Ham Radio Operator would immediately recognize.

Amateur Radio is a hobby with around three million (3,000,000) licensed operators worldwide. To participate all that is required is to pass a simple test, in the United States the test is given by local volunteers and it is very likely one is given near your town every month. The first level of license you will get is your Technicians License. The test for this covers basic rules and safety as well as some simple technical questions, you can buy a study book at most stores or check one out from your library. Best of all you no longer need to learn Morse Code for ANY license!

All Amateur Radio Operators have something called a Call Sign, my owners is KI4HLW, this is a series of letters and one number assigned to the operator by the United States FCC or that operators national governments equal. That series is unique to that individual operator and many operators only know some fellow operators by that call sign. (Like you may only know some fellow geocachers by their nickname on this site)

Amateur Radio is a great hobby involving technology, and fun for all ages! Hey that sounds a lot like another hobby we all have in common.

Hopefully finding me will cause you to catch the Amateur Radio bug too.
