My mission is simple, SPREAD BIKE AWARENESS!! Bikes (motorized or not) have equally the same rights to the roads as do other vehicle and pedestrians, PLEASE respect all who use the roads! Drivers should ALWAYS look twice, there could be something (or someone) you missed with the first glance! Drivers should also realizr that ROLLING STOPS KILL! A person simply rolling through a stop sign or light is likely not one who is PAYING ATTENTION enough! The law is that you must stop for a full 3 seconds before proceeding on! Since many rolling stops are made due to people being in a hurry, why not try leaving a few minutes early to make sure you arrive on time (this would allow you to actually STOP which could be the difference between life and death for someone should you not notice them in your hurried state). We must ALL (Riders and drivers alike) do our part to keep everyone safe on the roads!!
This coin is released as part of the Todie's Wild Ride initiative which was started after my good friend and caching partner was killed due to the carelessness of a driver who pulled into his lane causing him to ultimately flip his bike. When faced with a snap decision, the biker will almost always end up on the bad end of the stick, we cannot make sudden moves as safely as a car, and heaven forbid a collision occurs, the biker is vunerable whereas the driver is surrounded by metal! PLEASE don't make us make sudden decisions, our injuries or worse could haunt you forever! Think when driving, realize we must avoid obstacles a car or truck might not even consider a hazard! Remember to give us AT LEAST 2 seconds (4 seconds is even better) between our rear and your front bumper....following closely TRULY causes a rider concern and could be a tragic distraction. Yhis coin goes out in memory of my friend Tod, ride on Tod!
