Item Purpose

As a way to monitor operations across the Stage II DHARMA initiative, I Alvar Hanso am releasing this traceable item.

This item will monitor status and progress of existing participants as well as be used to recruit future participants.
This item will continue to collect intelligence around all current Stage II DHARMA initiatives as it circles the globe.
This item will be leveraged as a communication device to DHARMA personnel in the field as well as a relay to all recruits who are preparing for initiation or who have earned the right to advance in the program.

An Experiment in Travel

By picking this item up you have committed to a trial experiment in the Phase II DHARMA initiative.
To complete the trial successfully you must move the artifact to it's next location.

An Experiment in Containment

This artifact is also intended to be a storage and transportation module for the DHARMA Initiative.  The Hanso Foundation will add to its payload often to help organize and store other "artifacts" for use in the Phase II DHARMA initiative.  Payload items may include maps, documents, images, and other useful information for participants.  By keeping an eye on this artifact, you may gain valuable insight into the initiative.  Be warned that others may also leverage this devices storage capabilities with unauthorized and false artifacts.  Before referring to or using any articles contained in this devices payload, please validate that the artifacts have indeed been placed by Alvar Hanso himself.

An Experiment in PhotoChemistry

Light is neither a wave nor a particle, but has properties of both. Light can be focused like a wave, but its energy is distributed in discrete packets called photons. The energy of each photon is inversely related to the wavelength of the light -- blue light is the most energetic, while red light has the least energy per photon of exposure. Ultraviolet light (UV) is more energetic, but invisible to human eyes. Infrared light is also invisible, but if it is strong enough our skin detects it as heat.

It is the energy in each photon of light that causes a chemical change to the photographic detectors that are coated on film. The process whereby electromagnetic energy causes chemical changes to matter is known as photochemistry. By carefully engineering materials, they can be chemically stable until they are exposed to radiation (light). Photochemistry comes in many different forms. For example, specially formulated plastics can be hardened (cured) by exposure to ultraviolet light, but exposure to visible light has no effect.

To complete the Experiment in PhotoChemistry digital images must be uploaded through a remote terminal to this artifact.

Images sourced from the following locations will help the DHARMA research team.  All images welcome.  Please note that the artifact or handhelp GPSr device should be present in all images to aid in tracking and artifact monitoring.

We said good things would come to those who keep an eye on this traveller. Although we have not had this item in our hands for quite some time, we have opened a new facility which has been submitted to be online soon. Potentially by morning if we get the final bugs worked out.

As a faithful participant in this study this is a note telling you that you could get a FTF if you pay attention.

The new facaility is near 40th in Redmond, Washington.

Namaste!

Located the Lost Artifact, but was unable to counter magnetic force due to lack of replacement. I hope someone worthy comes along soon to see the Artifact along its way. I only wish I could go with it on its way to Hawaii.
