Current Goal

Go to Eisenhowers birthplace in Denison Texas. President and Supreme Allied Commander General Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial TB Travel to the boyhood home of Dwight D. Eisenhower in Abilene Kansas, his birthplace in Denison Texas, and all European countries in which he served as Supreme Allied Commander of NATO.

This TB has had a rough life so please be careful with it.  It was missing for months, two times it was not marked into a cache, and then appeared in another location and then someone decided to keep the coin that was attached and move just the TB along.  It would be very nice if this TB could make it to Denison Texas.

About This Item

tb

Dwight D. Eisenhower is a hero to all free nations but especially the USA and Europe. He was born in Denison Texas in 1890 and raised in Abilene Kansas. He rose through the US Army ranks to become General of the Army (5 Stars) and Supreme Allied Commander of the World War II European Theater. As the SAC he was responsible for the planning and execution of the successful invasion of France on June 1944 and the following victory in Europe. He also became the first SAC of NATO. In 1942 he was elected the 34th President of the United States making him the last US General to be elected as President.

The Eisenhower dollar coin was issued by the US Mint from 1971 - 1978. This coin is mistakenly called a Silver Dollar by many people but it actually contains no silver. This dollar coin commemorates the death of Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1969 on the obverse (front) and the Apollo 11 moon landing on the reverse (back) which also occurred in 1969.

Please do not keep this coin as it has no collectible value. THIS COIN CONTAINS NO SILVER

Big thanks to The WBs from Omaha Nebraska for replacing the coin after someone stole it.

This Cache was dropped in our Trackable Hotel and was not logged in at the time. I don't go through the container very often, but today I was placing a couple of other trackables in the Hotel and noticed this in the Hotel. I searched for it on Geocaching.com and discovered that it was not listed as being at our location. So I have now logged it. It can be found
in our Travel bug Hotel located at.......
