Current Goal

The mission of Story Bug #6 is to collect stories, wherever he travels. If you pick up Story Bug #6, please share a story when you log your find. It could be any kind of short story (or even long, if you prefer--length doesn't matter to me): what happened to you at work today, something memorable that happened to you as a child, some story you parents always used to tell you, a story you remember your grandma or grandpa telling--whatever. Here are some other ideas (or feel free to use your own):
-What your favorite place to travel is and why
-What is your favorite holiday and why
-Your favorite childhood memory
-Your favorite person in the world and why
-Your favorite pet and why
-Your number one goal or dream in life and why
Happy storytelling!

About This Item

I'm a graduate student studying folklore, and I love stories. So I've made the goal of this travel bug to collect stories. I'll tell a quick story about snowboarding. I grew up skiing, and didn't start snowboarding until I was 23. It's my all-time favorite hobby, and now I can do it with my daughter, who's 5. We started her out on a board when she was 3, because she has big feet and could fit into the smallest snowboard boots. She tried her first black diamond this last season. We rode down to the top of the run, and I asked her if she was ready. Grinned that will-try-anything grin and said, "Ready." It hadn't snowed for a few days, and so the run was a little icy. I let her go first, and she tried to carve, but ended up sliding on the ice. She tried to slow down by landing on her backside, but the run was so steep and icy, that she slid down on her backside, like a sled. So her first black diamond run consisted of her sliding down on her backside giggling the whole way.
