About This Item

Scout Landscape

Geodashing is another GPS Activity that involves finding random points and getting as close as possible to that point (within 100 meters to score). 31,000 “dashpoints” from all over the globe are listed on the Geodashing site each month.

In our dashing excursions, it seems that Llamas are a common theme to random points along the globe. Sure we see cow, deer, raccoon and other common animals - but many Geodashing hunts have included visits to Llamas. They've become our mascot.

“Scout” is the benevolent distributer of these random coordinates. His GPS related cames can be found at GPSGames.org.

Scout, the Dashing Llama is a wanderer. He doesn't really care where he goes. However, there are three possibilities for his mission:

  1. Find his way into a Geodasher's hands. There aren't that many of us. I'll try to keep a map of current geodashing activity updated so you can get a feel for where Geodashers might be lurking.
  2. Visit a Geodash point with him. The Geodashing game has a map of locations. Usually, there's one within 20-30 miles of everyone's home. Occassionally, they show up near caches.
  3. While this is the ultimate dream of Scout, I doubt it will happen: Find and take a picture of Scout the Llama with the real Scout in the area of Dallas, Texas. However, Scout seems very secretive about his location. This will be a tough one.

As if to prove my point about finding llamas, I was headed through Indiana after hitting GD36-CAOB on June 11, 2004, and came across the family to the right.N40.7577° W086.9895°

I have heard of Geodashing but have not really looked at the site. I just took a look at it and there are not really any site "close" to me, they seem to be at least 40 miles away at least. I will see if I can get Scout on his way soon.

Found Scout today in "Tucked Away in Burlington"

He had such a nice smile we had to take him home.

He bonded immediately with Gigi, but he will be hitting the road soon.
