Fifth Goal:  To be dropped off in Arizona and then travel freely.

Please don't post "Visit" Logs for more than one or two caches per cacher.  This Lady wants to be moved by different folks.  Thanks.

About This Item

Lady Slipper 2

FIRST GOAL:   As I remember all these years later, was to travel around aimlessly.  She started out from our former home in Fort Bragg, California.

SECOND GOAL:  Around March of 2004 geocacher KS Wader adopted our little lady.  Here is his description and goal:  "Lady Slipper was originally owned by Team Sagefox but has now been adopted by us on 3-16-2004. Thanks Team Sagefox for offering the bug to our little girl!

Please try to get the Travel Bug to [our home area] so Victoria can get a photo with her travel bug and then send it right on its way again.

...our little girl, Toria loves to play dress-up and has a favorite color of pink so this is a perfect travel bug for her!"

Team Sagefox adopted LS back from KSWader on 11-17-08 after 4 years and 8 months under their command.

LS achieved this second goal by visiting Hoxie, Kansas on 10/7/2012 and spending some time in the care of Toria and KSWader.

THIRD GOAL:  After the Hoxie visit the Lady was to travel freely again until 8/23/2013 when Lady Slipper's third goal was:  "Now she wants to head home to Olympia, Washington and to visit GC1633P Woodard's Trail".  (We had moved back to Washington State by this time.)   She met this goal on 10/17/2016.

FOURTH GOAL 1/10/2020: The now 16 year old Lady Slipper now wants to get to the Texas Big Bend and Texas Gulf Coast and then travel around in that limited region until we visit there this spring (2020) and attempt to retrieve her and bring her back home for another adventure.

NOTE:  The Fourth Goal never got to happen because we had to cancel the Texas trip due to Covid.  This sping (2022) we are finally headed back to the Southwest but only to Arizona.

Hiked the trail with Jason (Linda's son) from his house on the other side of the mountain. Like the previous cacher said, that last couple hundred feet is a doozy. I looked at Jason and said "you did bring a pen to sign the log didn't you?" he said, "I thought you did." Fortunately there is a working ink pen inside the cache. (I later found a golf pencil in one of my cargo pockets lol) I picked up the travel bug and will drop it in Colorado or Oklahoma on my way back east.
My 2nd Arizona cache, 1st of 4 today.

Grabbed it! Uh oh, the miles have taken its toll on the cute little flip flop, only one of the three connections is still attached. Anyhow, overall its in good shape and I'll move it along soon. Attached are photos from its approximate location where I picked it up with my geokids in the Phoenix urban mountains (the Shadow Mountain part of the preserve). Warm and sunny, 76 degrees in Phoenix in January!

  • The view enjoyed by the TB the last few days....
  • The geokids on the summit after finding the TB
  • The TB on 1/29/12, well-worn but still kicking!
