We took a spur of the moment side trip when we realized the Bridges of Madison County were in this area. Found a great spot for your turtle next to one of the Bridges in a clever cache hide. Had fun moving him along.

It was too late in the day for us to stop for something touristy in Des Moines since everything closes at 5pm, so we kept driving along I-80 until we saw signs for the 'Bridges of Madison County'. Who knew they were in the middle of Iowa?!? Well we had to take a detour to go see them. This one is called Hogsback Bridge, thus the play on words for the cache name. We eventually saw all 6 bridges, reaching the last one -- Roseman Bridge, the one that is actually featured in the movie -- just after the sun went down. This little detour took us 2 1/2 hours, added countless extra miles and an unexpected speeding ticket (Winterset Iowa is definitely a speed trap!!) to the trip, but it was a very fun adventure as we crossed Iowa.

My first rest stop cache as I start heading west on I-80. I'll be following I-80 the rest of the way through Iowa and for most of the way through Nebraska until I head south on I-76 to go to Boulder CO. Not sure how far along the route I'll take your turtle...
