Current Goal

I am a Volksmarch medal from Germany.  My owner is American and was attending the Gelnhausen American Elementary School in 1988 when this medal was earned.  He was in 6thgrade.  His father was stationed there as part of the US Army’s presence in what was then West Germany.  Each year the school would host a Volksmarch for the children and medals like these were awarded to all the students completing the march.  Now, my owner is fully grown and living in the United States.  He  would like to see this medal return to Germany, travel the world at large and then return back to the United States.  The goal of this medal is to have its picture taken in front of fantastic sites, both manmade and natural.  If you are curious about the origins of this medal,  you can read about the German Federal State of Hessen online.  My owners elementary school was located in this German state.  Enjoy!

Saw it in OTTT #5 - Vasa on the 22. Noticed as I was about to send this log in two days later that it was reported missing from that cache on the same day, so it must have been picked up, if not logged as such, on that afternoon. Lots of tourists in the area, though, so probably just a delayed log due to limited computer/internet access... fingers crossed...
