About This Item

Cucamonga Railroad Cacher - The Travel Bug Limited

As with all railroads, the Travel Bug Limited had a set itinerary and schedule. Unfortunately, the Travel Bug LImited got derailed in July 2005 in California, but has gotten back on track clear across the country in New York.  Yep, go figure that one out.  The Travel Bug Limited wants to take a ride on the scenic railroads anywhere in the United States. Some of the stops scheduled on the way include:

Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad
California Western Skunk Train
Golden Spike National Historic Site
Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad
Black Hills Central Railroad
Mt. Washington Cog Railway
Gettysburg Scenic Railway
Manitou & Pike's Peak Railway

The Travel Bug Limited is a round trip fare, starting in California and ending back in California after it gets to see these famous railways.

Nice to see that this litle car is still going strong. I took this from my first geocache find in 2002 and took it for a ride on the Yosemite Sugar Pine Railroad train. Looking where it has been brings back memories as I have also ridden some of the trains listed. It is good to follow the travel bugs.

Too cool! It grabbed the midnight train to NY and got lost in the excitement of the Big Apple. Wonder all the crazy things this little guy has seen. Glad you got your TB back on the radar, Webfoot!

Found this along a old railroad line in Ithaca, NY that is now a recreation trail. Looks like it has been missing for a while? Will try to get it back on track, although the website listing the explanation of the itinerary is now out of commission.

Hope someone out there is still monitoring its whereabouts and gets to see it back in action.

This Travel Bug is no longer in the Meily Park cache and its whereabouts are unknown. It has been gone for several weeks.

LOL....I didn't even look at the name on the tag until just now. I picked this bug up 85 miles (roughly) north of where I picked up "Stunod / Webfoot."

I'll see if I can get it closer to its next destination, which I think is the V & T railroad in Nevada. I can probably AT LEAST get it as far as Sacramento, maybe even Reno. I would love to be able to go all the way to the VT RR and ride the train with Cucamonga myself, but I doubt I have time.

Take Care!

PS: SRR is not punched or marked yet on the Ticket...Do you know if it has ridden the SRR? Should I mark the SRR as ridden? If the SRR has not been ridden would you like me to sent this towards Oakdale or would you rather have it head off towards nevada?
