To travel to the International Space Station Geocache GC1BE91 and then return to Chase Elementary School in Waterbury, Connecticut. This will be an epic journey and learning experience for the children of Chase School. We understand the complexity and obstacles involved in an adventure like this but remain optimistic. Regardless of the outcome we are sure to learn much more about space travel, the International Space Station and Astronauts along the way.
This travel bug is being activated by the 5th grade class of the Chase Elementary School in Waterbury, Connecticut.
The Waterbury Police Activity League (PAL) is a non profit organization that promotes partnerships between youth, law enforcement and the community through educational, recreational and athletic activities. Waterbury PAL has partnered with Astronaut Rick Mastracchio, the Waterbury Public Schools and geocaching.com to facilitate this project. For more about Waterbury PAL please visit our website at www.waterburypal.org.
Astronaut Rick Mastracchio attended Chase Elementary School and is going to the International Space Station in November 2013. Our hope is that he will be able to take this travel bug with him to the International Space Station and then get it back to Chase Elementary School in Waterbury, CT when he returns. The first travel bug to visit the International Space Station was TB27AH8. The children of the 5th grade class of Chase Elementary School will be adding additional information to this page about NASA, Rick Mastracchio and the International Space Station as they learn about it. There will also be many pictures and updates posted on the logs as they become available.
Astronaut Rick Mastracchio has added 11 hitchhiker tags marked Exp 38 to this travel bug so that other schools could also join in on this adventure. Ten additional Greater Waterbury Schools are now participating on this journey with Chase Elementary School and each will receive a hitchhiker when the travel bug makes it way back to Earth. Enjoy the ride!!
