Green Jeep Tribute 8 - United States

Wander, at a blistering pace, around  the world without being permanently captured. Keep me moving, don't hold on to me for too long! It is on you to move it along if you have decided to take this Jeep out of the hands of another cacher, a geocache or from an event!

This is a Maisto® Jeep Rescue Concept.  These were produced for the 2004 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.  If you have been caching for a while, you will recognize this model as the same used for the 2006 Jeep Geocaching Challenge. There were 5998 of the Green Jeeps released world wide. It was the 2006 Jeep 4X4 Geocaching Challenge that made me aware of Geocaching and started me on this hobby.  

The Jeep 4X4 Geocaching Challenge enjoyed a 4 year run and was very popular with Jeep enthusiasts, TB Icon collectors and Geocachers hoping to enter the challenge and win a full size Jeep. The four challenge years were:

2004:  Yellow Jeep Rubicon       (5001 released) 

2005:  ​White Jeep Wrangler       (4999 released)

2006:  Green Rescue Concept    (5998 released)

2007:  Red Jeep Commander      (8000 released)

Unlike those coveted 2006 Challenge Jeeps, this TB will not give you the Green Jeep TB icon, you will get the US Origins TB icon instead.  While many of the original "Green Jeeps" have been lost or scooped up by geocachers who have removed them from the game, there still remain a few in play waiting to be discovered.  While this series of Jeeps is a tribute, I hope that everyone gets a chance to find an authentic Jeep Challenge Travel Bug in their travels.

Geocaching in Space celebrates the spirit of exploration shared by all geocachers. In early November 2013, the geocaching community hosted over 1,100 events in more than 30 countries to commemorate a Geocaching Travel Bug's journey to the International Space Station. Astronaut Rick Mastracchio will use the Travel Bug to teach students back on Earth about geography and science. This Travel Bug was at an event held on 6/7 November 2013 that celebrated Geocaching in Space.
