The mission of this Traveling Tent Peg is to make it to as many campgrounds as it can. I camp about once a month (sometimes more if my wife lets me) but I can only get to so many campgrounds each year. So.....I would like this Traveling Tent Peg to make it to campgrounds near and far. I camp often in State Parks which often have caches. I'd love for this tent peg to move from campground to campground. Please write a bit about the campground you picked it up from and the campground you dropped it off at. Maybe I'll add it to my list to visit.
I am a member of CanvasCampers, a national group that enjoys outdoor activities including camping, kayaking, hiking, biking and yes... geocaching. Personally I camp in Northeastern PA. I usually camp for the weekend and only about 4 hours or less from home so that limits where I personally go. However, I'd love to track the campgrounds this Traveling Tent Peg goes to and dream about camping there myself with my family and friends.
I'm going to start this out at French Creek State Park in PA. I'd say that is my "Home" campground My camping season has started there every March for the past 6 years with all my camping friends and I often head up there for various weekends during the camping season. I have many memories at French Creek -my first trip in a cabin with my Brother-in-Law and my 3 year old Niece (8 years ago) -taking my Niece and Nephew swimming in the pool -watching my son just play on a log and have a blast -Hiking with my college text books and studying whenever I took a break -making dutch oven brownies but using garlic infused olive oil (they tasted kinda funny) -taking my future wife for a hike along a stream -I could go on and on about the good times at this campground (and others).......thats why I love camping and the outdoors.
I just started geocaching after some of my CanvasCampers friends and I were talking at a Friday night campfire. I was going to go hiking with 2 other people and 2 others were talking about geocaching. We asked to tag along and found it interesting. Since then I have taken my Son, Niece, and Nephew geocaching. They have caught the geocaching "bug" and I am giving them each a Travel Bug as presents to keep them interested :)
