About This Item

250 front

My 250th find was on 10/30/13,the cache is GC3PRFR "A New Hoppe", I'm keeping the coin but will put out a Proxy to do the traveling.

New Proxy 11/9/18

Let's face it folks, some of us spend a lot of money on trackables, only to have them disappear once they get sent out into the wild.  For trackable owners, it's extremely disheartening when this happens.  All of the coins/trackables I've sent out so far have went missing at some point.  For this reason, I've decided to keep all of the original coins and send out Proxies into the wild.  That way others will have the opportunity to move/discover the trackables I've been holding on to, while also keeping the original coin safe and sound.

Please treat the proxy as you would the real coin and move it along from cache to cache.  I hope you will play along and move the proxy instead of keeping it!

Dropping this off in my first hide, a large geocache container that has been a TB hotel for years. Hoping it finds its way to a new cacher who will help it continue its journey!

Hershey, PA - Lovely little town. Home of all the old Hershey factories, many of them still running. If you come here you have to go to Chocolate World just once and for the adventurous, try some roller coasters at Hershey Park. I was here for the Fall Penn State graduation where my step-daughter got her (first) degree. GO SHANNON!

Phoenix, AZ - Stop off back home, next trip will be in December, Pennsylvania, then Europe in the Spring.

Visited 8/17/2019 Melisaco took it to SFGT: Las Vegas New Mexico - 402.27 miles  Visit Log

Las Vegas, NM - It's the other Las Vegas! We arrived late on a Saturday night after an all day drive from Cheyenne - trying to get back to Phoenix earlier on Sunday. It's a small college town, and downtown was hoppin'. While the coordinates of this cache had you standing in the middle of the street, the hint helps direct you to a nice historic business that was lovely to look at. Luckily for me the person behind the counter knew what I was talking about!

Visited 8/16/2019 Melisaco took it to Sidney Gold Mine Nebraska - 97.9 miles  Visit Log

Sidney, NE - We drove from Cheyenne to the first town in Nebraska we could find specifically so I could get my Nebraska souvenir. The part we drove through was flat, and well, more flat. Sidney was a small town and closed down by the time we got there. Someday I'll come back and explore more, I'm sure there is more to see.

Visited 8/16/2019 Melisaco took it to Cheyenne Flying - J Wyoming - 62.2 miles  Visit Log

Cheyenne, WY - I actually ended up liking Cheyenne. It's a small town, but also the state capital. Getting around was easy and there are some nice, small museums - well maintained, interesting and free! :) We had time to see the Historic Governor's Mansion and also the Wyoming State Museum. I might enjoy going back to head deeper into the state for Yosemite and Devil's Peak, but we just didn't have time this trip. Onward to Nebraska!

Visited 8/16/2019 Melisaco took it to Oh, Fudge! Colorado - 52.16 miles  Visit Log

Estes Park, CO: We overnighted here on our way north. It's a really nice place with two specific things we wanted to see. First we did a drive through of the Rocky Mountain National Park. Beautiful place, but it was here that it first occurred to me that the reason I sometimes ran out of oxygen in the middle of speaking a sentence was because of the height of the mountains we were standing on. Just wow!

Second, being Stephen King fans, we had to stop at The Stanley Hotel and have a look around. Beautiful historic hotel with a claim to being the inspiration for the book, The Shining (although it's not the hotel in the movie). We didn't have time for the tour, but they do also claim to be haunted so I may go back some day and check it out!

Visited 8/15/2019 Melisaco took it to Heine's Edgar Allan Poe Cache Colorado - 64.64 miles  Visit Log

Denver, CO: Quick stop in Denver. We wanted to visit the Mint, but they have some very specific hours and all tours are guided. Make note if you plan on visiting! There's also a virtual there, but I chose to visit the tracker to this one because it was so on theme. The name gave you a huge hint that was followed closely by the find. Edgar Allan Poe lovers should all visit!
