About This Item

Winnie

Before 2020:  Cache Stickman wants to stay in the Stickman geocache and greet those who find it.  This is Grampa Stickman.  Papa Stickman is out travelling, but Grampa wants to stay put here in the Stickman geocache.

Before 2014:  Snowster Belle wanted to jingle her way from cache to cache.  This Travel Bug had received a second chance at traveling as some colorful paper clips and beads. When she stopped in Arizona, she got a makeover to look more like her original self.

Dropped Snowster Belle in this cache today next to the airport in hopes that it will soon catch a great ride to new and exciting places! Good travels! I enjoyed getting to know the owner during the past couple of weeks through emails and tb logs! I will be watching where this cutie goes next...no melting now!!

A group of us headed up to Casa Grande, north of Tucson, for some major desert caching today. I bagged 21 new ones total, not bad considering many stops today were at caches I have previously visited in order to let my co-cachers log them and to drop off bugs. The temps got up to about 95 or so, but the desert was beautiful and the companions were wonderful. I even got to bring Chester the dog along! The highlights included bagging the Arizona Alphanumeric challenge AND I got it on my 1800th find, so there was much dancing and goofing off! Later in the day, we came across the ANGRIEST diamondback rattlesnake I have EVER seen in my life. It slithered under my truck, after a few photos from afar, and prevented me from getting in until I went around to the other side, climbed across the front seat, and drove forward to pick up my friends. Sheesh. Ran out of caches to drop off bugs, so brought this one back to Tucson for more dispersal. Totally had a blast, got dehydrated, sunburned, and covered about 120 miles and 12 hours!

Last one of the day with Team Nine Lives and Chester the dog. So this was one of those 'typical' Tucson desert geocaching experiences, IF there is one of those! I got prickly pear AND cholla in my leg. No worries, all removed. Then Chester got cholla in his foot. Got that too. Now it's about 95 degrees at this point and full sun. Team Nine Lives is wearing shorts and sandals so I am elected to go forth and find. Through the mesquite I go. Surprised I didn't get slivers in my hand!! LOL. Found the cache, NICE little hide, thank you! Then we hear something funny. We stop, listen, look and watch as a dust devil makes its way across the desert to the south right towards us! What to do? Beats me. I figure if we try to run out of the way, it will turn and follow us. Stay quiet, I say. Maybe it won't see us! So we stood there and watched it blow branches up into the air and zig zag back and forth, drop dirt all over my truck, then turn east and head up the road. Weird. So back we head to the car, picking our way carefully through the sharp pokey plants. Chester is in a hurry and tries to take a short cut and ends up with more cholla in his foot. We get it out and finally get back to the truck (Finally! It's only like 70 feet!) and hop in. I think the only desert damage we didn't get was the torn up arms with blood dispersal! But a good time was had by all, especially once we cranked the AC up to full blast. Only in Tucson in April...love it!!

Had a great time at the 3rd R Minus One Again – A Sweet Night event. Chocolate fountain and fabulous dipping items like sponge cake, cookies, apple slices, bananas, strawberries, peanut butter balls, Peeps, marshmallows, pretzels, Hershey's kisses, and bacon! A great time had by all!!! Lots of bugs were discovered, traded, and passed to new cachers to move. Wonderful time!

Welcome to Tucson, Arizona. High 80's today (mid April mind you). Sunny, blue skies and super low humidity...it's a dry heat. Cactus, saguaros, mesquite, palo verde, and creosote abound. Coyotes, javalina, squirrels, owls, lizards, snakes, scorpions, the poisonous Colorado River Toad, geckos, and the Gila Monster are only some of our local inhabitants. I love it. Usually. Come June to July, not so much. Late July, when the monsoons come, then I adore it! Lightening and pouring rain and flooded roadways. Yup, that's summer in Tucson! We get half our rain in the winter, and the other half in the summer. You open your mailbox in the summer with oven mitts. You don't leave CDs, DVDs, chapstick or crayons in your car in the summer. You are prepared to change directions and insulate all outdoor plumbing in the middle of winter when it decides to freeze and we might get a bit of snow. If it snows on Mt. Lemmon, the town heads up the mountain to play in the white stuff, which promptly shuts down the highway cuz there is only one snowplow. It's a unique and interesting place. Come visit some time!!

The NEW and improved Crafty Snowster Belle travel bug, IF the owner approves. I loved the photo of Belle so much that I just printed it up and laminated it and added a bell, signifying her name, and a white bead representing snow.
