So the time is up now. A whole year has passed and the ducks raced all to their abilities as far as they could or wanted. It's not for me to crown the winner since I'm just the keeper of the minutes and not the organizer of the race but of course I've got an opinion who should be called the winner.
Let's look at the details now. Not many things changed since my last report in December but let's see what happened to our little cuties since then.
RED (owner: stellarissa)
The yellow-red little duck found a new home with HKMHill who's looking after it in a caring, loving way: taking it for a walk on a regular basis, indicate interesting places to it and telling the owner about their explorations. The pictures he's uploading are really worth your time if you'd like to check them out here. They usually come with a description of where they've been AND you find little duckie in almost every single picture. The most astounding thing that happened to duckie lately was a trip to it's home town Berlin right at the last day of the race!
BLUE (owner: ErnaE)
The yellow-blue little duckling was leading the race by a few points until it was lost in August during an event in Northern England. After many dark and lonely months where it even was marked as missing it suddenly turned up again half a year later in the hands of one of said event's attendees. Hooray! But as it seems there might have been a guilty conscience involved because duckie was dropped off almost immediately and had just three more days of caching in April before the race now is at an end.
GREEN (owner: Ikosaeder)
During the last half year the green little duck traveled through Switzerland on a quite irregular basis, changed its temporary holders a lot and seemed a bit restless. One cacher obviously wanted to help increase the points by uploading lots of pictures instead of visiting caches but since these more than 100 pictures haven't got anything to do with geocaching I'm not sure if they should really all be counted as uploaded pictures. A few are nice and show the area though. Due to this huge amount of pictures duckie went into the lead by points about 10 days before the race ended.
BLACK (owner: uwe-sauerland)
Here we still have the same situation as at my last report: The black little duck was never set out to travel by its own but still waddles around with the owner. This way it visits lots of events and caches all over Germany. At the last weekend of the race it even went to italy as part of the 2nd GeoFly event. A shame duckie missed the starting signal in London in April so it doesn't really take part in the race and all its nice points don't count towards victory.
PINK (owner: Claudi_ja)
The owner liked the little pink duck too much to take the risk of losing it. So this duck, too, was never placed in a cache. After our group trip to London it was put in a safe place and never traveled again. Every now and then duckie gets discovered but otherwise it sleeps its time away in the company of many other nice coins.
