Invented to Determine Longitude at Sea
The original coin traveled 7165 miles, from Colorado to California, then to Germany, the Czech Republic and Hungary before it went missing.
Relaunched on 11/11/11 in Colorado, the proxy traveled to New Mexico, Nebraska, Iowa, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, California, Japan and Guam before finally reaching Hawaii, where it went missing at the 25,383 mile mark.
From 5/1/15 to 2/20/16 it traveled under a pseudonym around Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Tesas, Missouri and Iowa.
The pseudonym traveler was retired when the original coin resurfaced in Austria. Since then it has traveled through Europe visiting the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, San Marino, Vatican City State, the United Kingdom, Czechia, United Arab Emirates, Poland and Estonia.
