I didn’t know exactly what to do with this travel bug and the WheresGeorge bills in it. While I could log the bug here with no problems when I tried to log the WheresGeorge bills I got the following message.
“Welcome Geocaching user!
Due to past abuses of people placing Where's George? bills into Geocaches as "travel bugs", the number of hits on any bill traveling among Geocaches has now been limited to 10 entries. Bills submitted after they have 10 Geocaching entries are not being accepted. .......
Please return this bill to normal circulation and do not place it into another Geocache.”
Of the bills in the bottle, all but one gave this message. So they can no longer be traced through the WheresGeorge website. One could still be traced since it hadn’t hit the limit of 10 entries. So I put that bill back in the bottle and sent it on its way by placing it in the "Elementary My Dear Watson!" cache. The other bills I will return to normal circulation as the site requests.
Apparently www.wheresgeorge.com is negative about using WheresGeorge bills as travel bugs and considers this an abuse.
I noticed that the next finder of the bug, 419eatinghomer, added new WheresGeorge bills to the bottle so presumably these new Georges can still be logged as the bug travels via geocaches.
