BEFORE THE LEWIS AND CLARK EXPADITION COULD BECOME A PART OF HISTORY, THE LAND HAD TO BE AQUIRED. THIS WAS ACCOMPLISHED BY PRESIDENT THOMAS JEFFERSON AND CALLED THE LOUISIANA PURCHASE.

THE COIN IS ONE OF 2 THAT HAVE BEEN NEWLY CREATED TO MARK THE 200TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LOUISIANA PURCHASE.
IT HAS THE SAME DESIGN AS THE DISC SET AT MONTICELLO,THOMAS JEFFERSONS HOME,AND ALL OTHER SIGNATURE DISCS.
FRIENDSHIP HANDSHAKE ON ONE SIDE,LEWIS AND CLARK ON THE OTHER.
