The Ducks

Mrs. Stump is a reality TV junkie, this travel bug is a tribute to the Amazing Race. There are three teams of two racing each other across the United States. There are two legs of the journey. In the first leg, teams must visit a cache in the Los Angeles/Long Beach, California area. The second leg of the race is to head east. The first pair of ducks to upload photos of frolicking in the Atlantic Ocean will win the Amazing Duck Race.

For those of you familiar with the show, add tales of their journey-

    You, a helpful local, have picked up Casper and Count Quackula. They have been friends since childhood and are a dynamic duo in any nighttime travels. Count Quackula is looking for an adventure he can sink his fangs into. Casper the ghost wants to win the race by being nice and playing ethically – can this strategy work?


    Paul and Wanda are the only married couple in this race. Wanda the Witch is very conniving and is known to fly off the handle at any time. Paul the Pumpkin is dealing with a severe handicap and still has a lot of anger about the carving accident. Will this aggressive team go far?


    Frankenstein and Marlene are the underdogs because they move slower than the other teams. These long time coworkers met at their Department of Licensing jobs. Frankenstein is not very bright, but he is anxious to bolt to the finish line. Marlene the mummy is a little wrapped up in herself, does she have what it takes to not be eliminated?

    Casper & Count Quackula were located high on a hill, 20 miles SE of L.A. They were a little frightened of the rattlesnakes & coyotes, and begged for a ride anywhere East. They promised to chip in for gas, but that remains to be seen. They will be departing on Sept.8th for the Hobie 20 National Championship, in Clear Lake Iowa. There they hope to find lodging with fellow travelers, until they come up with another plan to get closer to the Atlantic Ocean.

    The duck pals managed to make it to their next pit stop Las Vegas. Unfortunately, they missed a waypoint along the way and were unable to check in at the pit stop. They had to backtrack their way back to Southern California before they could complete this leg of the Amazing Race.

    Casper and Count Quackula had finished the first leg of the race with flying colors. Now it's on to the Atlantic!

    But wait! What's this? Having spent every last dime to get on the first flight to LA, they had no money left! Unable to scare a few bucks their way, they began hitchhiking aimlessly around Southern California, getting no closer to the other side of the country.

    After spending three nights in a black widow infested motel, they were finally on their way again. Could this be the break they were looking for? Or will there be another detour along the way?
