About This Item

This special silver geocoin has been activated in honor of Bubba Riley, who created the epic Middlesex Canal Cache. This is my way of thanking "Cousin Bubba" for the excellent adventure I had while solving the Canal cache!

This Geocoin will be released tonight, at the Dinner and Caching at Baldwin Mansion event, which is also being held to honor Bubba Riley and Jonathan and all who have had the pleasure of solving the Middlesex Canal Cache so far. Thank you Cousin Bubba! (From "Cousin Patty")

I'm sorry to report that time did not permit a trip to the Erie Canal (I was
disappointed, too), but as a consolation, I did make a trip up to the Nashua
Canal to do a touch-n-go at the Mine Falls Cache. There's many caches in
that area, so it's worth the trip. (more pictures in cache log).

I'm going to Albany, NY, next week and am bringing another canal-related TB to the great Erie Canal, so I'll bring Cousin Bubba's Geocoin there as well.

Completed in 1825, the Erie Canal, at 363 miles long, is one of four canals in the NY canal system, altogether stretching an impressive 524 miles. The other three canals are the Champlain, the Oswego, and the Cayuga-Seneca.

Here's a few links regarding the Erie Canal (& other NY canals):

Oh, yeah, this was also my first Geocoin--yeee haw! Thanks!

Grabbed Cousin Bubba's Geocoin so I can give it a little upgrade, a nice protective cover. After the upgrade, I will release it quickly so it can continue on it's journey. Hmmmmm, will it end up in another Bubba Riley cache or near another body of water...?

I really wish that I had had this coin with me in Ottawa earlier this week. It would have been right at home along the beautiful Rideau Canal. GO$Rs
