The 3 Wise Monkeys

For whatever reason I love this coin... "The 3 Wise Monkeys" sitting on an ammo can are just too funny! It brings back memories of the advertising calendars my dad and brother would give out at the service station back in the 50's & 60's. Each month it featured a chimp dressed up doing silly things.

This entry is for Challenge #35 on Veni, Vedi, Vici (CachingGames.com) - "No Signature Required". It was entered in GA0994 "Then & Now" (locationless cache) at Geocaching Australia. Both photos was taken from Lat: 38.448954 Lon:-78.868816; Court Square in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The upper photo is circa 1939 (photographer unknown) and the lower one I took yesterday.

Although challenge 36 is called "Hate 'em in Rocks", this cache was fun to locate! It was a short hike up a trail in the George Washington National Forest to a cache buried by rocks.

This coin was taken to the "Old Valley Pike; Granted It's History" cache, to meet challange #33. It is located near the New Market Battlefield State Historical Park, which contains the Bushone House, built in 1825. The house served as a field hospital during the Civil War and permanent blood stains were left in the Parlor. The orchard just behind the house is where the fiercest fighting occurred. Due to darkness, I could not obtain a photo for this challange but I will add one that was taken earlier in the year when I visited the house.
