About This Item

The Original State

This traveler is intended as a test of the Tile bluetooth tracker as a geocaching device. It sends the location it was last seen by a phone with the app installed to me (it's not shared to other users). If the Tile and I end up within an short range I can make the Tile sing. But, it's only expected to last about a year on a battery (and the battery is not supposed to be interchangable). Please drop your thoughts about the tech in the logs.

I really like the idea of Tile as a retrieval device, although it is a little pricey (I checked their website). Anyhow, I have installed the ap in my iPhone, so I would be interested to know if the owner can detect it sitting on my desk.

I told afishoutawater that I would take it to Block Party in Seattle, but possibly that is too far for easy retrieval when the one year anniversary comes around. Let me know. Going to Block Party? Maybe you could find it there. That would be a real hoot!

After this weekend at the Midwest Geobash I haven't received an update from the Tile for months (and with that many phones around I would have thought there would have been a ping). If this gets nearby again I'd like to try grabbing it to test weather its still working.
