Here are your nominees for the February Featured Geocacher of the Month. Some testimonials have been edited for length.

Nominated by RayandLynn, “Magicman65 is Vice President of the BC Geocaching Association. He is a member of the Mid Island Geocaching Association and a member of the Vancouver Island Geocaching Association.  He teaches geocaching, creates and attends events. Magicman65 encourages geocachers to be respectful of the environment, caches, each other and of course (be respectful of) Muggles. When he comes across a cache that needs maintenance, he will fix it right there on the spot.”

Nominated by HotBarbecuered, “My first encounter with this AMAZING cacher was when I moved to the Windsor Ontario Canada area for my university studies. I later went to my very first caching event in Michigan and found out that Rattrak was behind organizing many of the events in the Metro-Detroit area. Each year, Rattrak is one of the organizers of the Annual Detroit/Belle Isle Event. Rattrak also hosts an semi-annual CITO event and potluck on the island each spring and fall.”

Steve ‘n’ Nancy

Steve 'n' Nancy

Nominated by rvjn, “Steve ‘n’ Nancy has given their all to promoting caching in the North Bend/Coos Bay area. Caching was very limited when they began so they started getting the local cachers together, inviting visitors to dinner, meeting with all, and putting on events on a regular basis. Ask anyone in Oregon and they’ll tell you that the best caches are to be found in Coos Bay/North Bend area.  Steve ‘n’ Nancy make every cacher who comes to the area feel special!”

Comment below to tell us who you think should be the featured February Geocacher of the Month. A panel of Lackeys will use your comments to help decide which geocacher is awarded the honor. Each featured Geocacher of the Month will receive an exclusive special edition featured Geocacher of the Month Geocoin along with a Geocacher of the Month hat and a certificate acknowledging their contributions signed by two of the founders of Geocaching.com. • Lazonians

Go Magicman65! One vote from me. You can find him at almost every event helping the newbies with their GPS or other related caching problems. He is a great entertainer at the annual Geo-Poker run he puts on and was one of the reasons I found geocaching to be not just a great activity but a fantastic community to belong to.

  • bcrockcrawler

Magicman65 is one of those persons that gets a passion for a hobby and not only pursues the hobby for personal enjoyment but also decides that there is merit in contributing to the hobby to promote and make it enjoyable for others.
Forever the showman, which undoubtedly helps with his ability to help the newbie and experienced geocacher alike, he continues to help with the growth of geocaching on Vancouver Island and throughout the Province of BC.  He has my vote.

Our vote goes to Steve n Nancy.  They have put on so many events to get new cachers comfortable with asking questions about anything.  Their events are always a large crowd, moving from a small venue to now around 200 people.  They have put out caches from ez to ones that make you scratch your head.  Muddy Frogs

  • Cknght101

My vote is for Steve ‘n’ Nancy – Steve and Nancy has brought geocaching on the Oregon Coast to an entirely new level – the fellowship and friendships that they have inspired cannot be adequately stated in writing.  They are world class and loved by everyone – they have a heart for geocaching and the advancement of the sport!

  • chucky-chief

I agree with cknight101 – Steve and Nancy

  • Tvpaw’s Pack

My vote is for Steve N’ Nancy. They are always putting our geo caching community on the Go. With old cachers and new cachers there are smiles as big as our Pacific Ocean. They have put out many Fun caches and the Events are done as to make all persons welcomed if not curious. Steve N’ Nancy have a weekly morning meeting place. Everyone is welcomed and at times we  have had up to 28 or more just for coffee. Cafe 101 is where crafty ideas and plans are made. Carpooling and phone # as for lifelines. Did I mention they keep us reminded of Events in neighboring States. There talking of renting vans to go to Block parties which makes it possible for more people to go. Our Community love them the buisness in our area and up/down the coast Love them. Stephenie Tevepaugh   Tvpaw’s Pack

  • emilierene

I vote for Steve’n’Nancy!  Before I moved to the Southern Oregon Coast I asked around about the caching community here.  Right away I was told about these people named “Steve’n’Nancy” who have the greatest events and are very welcoming.  Of course my first experience with the local group here included a warm welcome from Steve’n’Nancy.  Since then I’ve enjoyed their caches and their friendship, and I know many other will echo my sentiments.  Steve’n’Nancy are exemplary cachers!

Steve ‘N’ Nancy! They’ve done so much for the cachers and the caching in our area that they deserve the recognition.

  • norway sprint

  • lunarmist02

“You meet the nicest people geocaching”.  My vote goes to Steve’n’Nancy.  They really are the nicest people.  If it wasn’t for their Halloween 2011 event,
I would have  never met the nicest people
(cachers) of the Coos Bay/North Bend area.
They give so much to the geocaching community by helping new cachers,
hosting events and list goes on and on.

  • Kelly Contant

    Magicman65 all the way

  • coast2coast2coast

My Vote goes to Magicman65… He is a truly dedicated member of the Geocaching family.  He teaches courses for new cachers, he will go out of his way to spread the Geocaching word to anyone that will listen.  The fact that he is the current VP of the BCGA (and running for re-election) truly shows his dedication to the sport/hobby/obsession. I think that he should be the Geocacher of the month.

  • voter

For the same reasons mentioned by coast2coast2coast, I vote for Magicman65

  • Degaslevesque

I vote for Magicman65 .. His heart is in the right place ,. and so is his Magical G.P.S. He is a spot on kind of guy.

  • rvls

My vote is for Steve’n’Nancy.   They have done so much to enhance Geocaching.   The Coos Bay/NorthBend, OR area is one of, if not the best area we’ve found in our travels for Geocaching and much of it is because of Steve’n’Nancys efforts.

  • Goldfinch

Rattrak, he was always there for my answers on questions for caches in the Detroit / Belle Isle.  Been to a couple events and he is a great guy

I think Magicman65 should be geocacher of the month. He is alway is ready to lend a hand to cachers new and old, he helps out at events as well as have his own events which are always well attended from cachers as far as 3 and 4 plus hrs away. He has some very creative caches which use videos and magic tricks, to give you the co-ords and info you need. He is not only the BCGA Vice president, he is also a great guy who puts alot of work into everything he pursues. My vote is definitly for him. Good Luck Magicman65

  • doingitoldschool

I’m sure the other folks are great, but here’s my vote for magicman. Right from the beginning he was finding ways to contribute to geocaching, and not just find tupperware in the woods. That said, he’s pretty good at that too!

  • cameracowgirl

Magicman65 is a very helpful cacher, too. How many other cachers do you know who would just give you a pen for signing logs and insist that you keep it?

  • Craigandshell

    A vote for Magicman65

  • Queenbee001

I vote for Magicman65. A very creative cacher. His caches are fun and also make you think. He is very approachable friendly and always willing to help a fellow cacher. You can tell he really loves caching and is dedicated to the sport. Thanks for all your help Magicman.

  • Pastorlamar

Steve ‘n’ Nancy stand out from even the greatest geocachers.  They have cached for several years in the Coos Bay area, and those here already think of them as the patriarch and matriarch of our beloved sport.

They are known for the friendly
way in which they welcome geocachers to the Bay Area, and invite them to experience
Bay Area caching for themselves–through events, personal time and assistance, and even the locations of their caches, which often highlight the history and culture of the area.

They have planted almost 140 caches on Oregon’s south coast, with almost 100 still
active. Beyond this, they have organized 34 different great geocaching
events in the past 5 years (attracting cachers from many hours away), including WWFM events, annual
“Wintertime Fun” events, Meet & Eat events, several holiday
events, and an official “10 Year” event.

Equally important, the creativity of their caches and events has inspired NUMEROUS other caches and events in the area, making this, arguably, the greatest caching place around.

As well, their design can be found on a number of geocoins
reflecting both their pride in this area and their love for geocaching.

Because they embody everything that geocaching is about, I place my vote for them.

  • Lundloghouse

Magicman65 gets our vote…a super friendly guy who is always willing to lend a hand.

  • Let’s Go Caching

We vote for Magicman65, In the short time we have met him he has shown us great dedication to the game and sport we all love. He is highly involved in the B.C Geocaching community and works hard behind the scenes making the game more enjoyable for you and I. I’m not sure how he does it all but he seems to help out everywhere he can and volunteer to support the Geocaching community in B.C on many different levels. I must say he is also a very competive player racking more FTF than than I have ever seen.

I met Rattrak shortly after I began attending events in 2009.  He came up and started talking to me giving me some suggestions as I was still a pretty novice geocacher.  I have seen him mentor several people throughout the area and he is always willing to lend a helping hand.

  • Geoff O

A vote for Magicman65 – he is a great asset to the geocaching community in the Comox Valley.

  • Savant9

  • Billybe

Picture this…. We were caching the Oregon Coast and came into Coos Bay knowing not a soul. We cached the day in and around Coos Bay and I had just sat down to log the days finds when a e-mail came in to my computer. The e-mail was from some one called “Steve’n’Nancy” inviteing us to go to dinner with them. Not knowing them we were a little concernd but not haveing anything better to do we accepted the invintation. That was the best thing we have done, talk about haveing fun, they were and have been the most friendlist people that we have ever meet in all of our travels!!!!!!
My Vote goes to “Steve ‘n’ Nancy”

  • Nick

My vote goes to Rattrak. I met him quite a few years ago, and is a great guy who is more than willing to mentor anyone who is interested in Geocaching. He is well deserving of the award.

  • Kat

Magicman65 – because he’s magic! Happy to have worked with him on the BCGA this past year, hope to be able to work with him again this coming year.

  • FamilyNavigation

Our vote is for Magicman65.  The first event we ever attended was a magicman event 2 1/2 years ago.  This was just after we moved to a new home town and we had just started geocaching.  Instantly we were welcomed into the geocaching community with open arms.  There are many reasons why we like geocaching which includes the people we meet, and the friends we have made. He has our kids vote as well which is not surprising as kids love magic.
