CITO 2019 Season 1 Recap

All good cachers go geocaching, what do great cachers do?

Cachers Improve The Outdoors!

Cache in Trash Out® (CITO) 2019 Season 1 just wrapped up, and what a success it was!

Although geocachers’ love for Mother Earth can’t be quantified, their ability to CITO sure can be. Here are some numbers to sum up CITO 2019 Season 1:

  • 1,607 total Events were hosted
  • 59 countries hosted
  • “Attended” logs totalled 25,855, with the largest event logging 161 “Will Attends.”
  • If every person who attended a CITO picked up ten pounds (4.5 kg) of trash, geocachers across the globe cleaned up 258,550 pounds (117,276 kg) of trash. That’s almost 18 Tyrannosaurus rexes worth of trash!

Check out the hard work geocachers have been doing around the world to improve our game board:

Season 2 runs from Sunday, September 1 through Saturday, November 30, 2019. That includes all of September, October, and November.

Remember, it doesn’t have to be CITO season for you to show Mother Earth your love. You can attend or host many more throughout the year. Interested in hosting? Even better! Read the 6 steps to organize a CITO event and check out the CITO section in our Help Center for tons of good info.
