Celebrate a year of medieval heritage with the Treasure of the Temple Knights GeoTour

Celebrating a year of adventures along Spain’s first GeoTour.

In the valleys of Saja and Nansa in western Cantabria, Spain, 148 geocaches await you on the Treasure of Temple Knights GeoTour (GT8C). In celebration of the one-year anniversary of Spain’s first GeoTour, the hosts have planned a weekend full of events. This is your opportunity to find caches in an array of terrains, from the sea to the mountains, that  make this GeoTour an unforgettable experience. Spanning an area of 1,000 square kilometers, this GeoTour was developed with the cultural and environmental heritage of the region in mind. There are even specific locations designed for kids based on mythological creatures!

What does the celebration weekend include?

The anniversary weekend is full of activities revolving around caching and outdoor exploration! Join the guided tours along the medieval route of the Templar Knights to reach some of the most complicated and hard-to-reach places of the 148 geocaching treasures.

  1. Saturday, 14 September: Fiesta final 1 Año de GeoTour (celebration event). Caching options include guided routes by electric bike and stand up paddle surfing.
  2. Sunday, 15 September: join other geocachers in caring for the Saja River by cleaning it up with the “Let’s clean the Saja River Paleochannel!” CITO Event (GC8BG50)
  3. Other activities include a medieval dinner, costume contest, and equipment rental for the ferrata climb for free for a limited time from Guia de Picos to access a T5 cache! Other companies nearby will offer the equipment at a 15% discount.

What do I receive for finishing the Treasure of the Temple Knights GeoTour?

Find all active and temporarily disabled caches on the GeoTour to earn the unique, digital souvenir for your Geocaching.com profile! Fill out the tours’ passport to track your progress and receive an exclusive geocoin once you log 100 caches.

With activities suitable for all ages, there is no better time to become a templar knight while exploring the Cantabrian landscape!
