Today, we release a new country/regional souvenir for the United Arab Emirates! If you have found a geocache in the UAE, you automatically receive the souvenir on your profile.

The United Arab Emirates is a federation of seven emirates stretched across the eastern coast of the Arabian peninsula. A vibrant and varied modern landscape, the UAE’s towers and cities spring from an ancient mix of arid desert, lush coastal plains, and soaring mountains.

The city of Dubai has become an iconic cityscape, with towering buildings stretching into an impressive skyline. A booming global city, it houses businesses, tourism, and the UAE’s very own Geocache of the Week, Burj Khalifa a Virtual Reward.

The Burj Khalifa holds the distinction of being the current tallest building in the world. Standing at over 2,715 ft (828 m), it breaks several world records including having the highest occupied floor in the world, and the elevator with the longest travel distance in the world.

Logging requirements are standard for a Virtual Cache, and exactly what you’d expect from a cache owned by two Reviewers! Cachers wishing to log this Virtual need only arrive at the posted coordinates and post a photo of a unique item showing their caching name.

Thankfully the coordinates themselves are at the base of the towering skyscraper—geocachers with a fear of heights are more than welcome to log with their feet safely on the ground!

Though our Geocache of the Week is in the city and relatively accessible to most travelers to the UAE, it’s also worth taking in the other sights—and finding some of the other caches—the UAE has to offer.

From Mysteries outside historic mosques, to Virtuals at sweeping sand dunes, to Traditionals along the sparkling Arabian gulf, it’s a country full of caching you won’t want to miss.

We know geocachers love country and regional souvenirs and we do too! We are releasing at least one new country/regional souvenir per month starting in January 2019. These new souvenirs will be featured alongside Geocaches of the Week in each region and shared on the third Wednesday of each month. Check out all of the Geocaching souvenirs here.
