Favorite point-worthy inspiration

There’s nothing quite like finding a cache that brings joy, showcases creativity, or brings a smile to your face. These moments make geocaching so rewarding, earning caches those coveted Favorite points. By awarding a Favorite point, you’re not just acknowledging the cache owner’s effort; you’re also sharing the joy with geocachers around the world.

This year, for Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating what makes a Favorite point-worthy cache and why sharing favorite points with your most loved geocaches is so important.

Imaginative containers

Theme, theme, theme! Some of the most creative geocaches follow a theme from the cache page to the container. Spending extra time imagining the tiny details of what the geocache will look like or the emotion that will come alive when it’s found is an excellent way for a geocache to earn more Favorite points. This can be done in several ways, including themed SWAG, fun graphics on the cache page, or decorating the container from top to bottom.

One geocache with a fantastic “love” theme throughout the geocache shown in the video below! Capturing the Valentine’s Day spirit from the moment, geocachers open the geocache container. From the miniature loveseat to the colorful wallpaper, this cache embraces the theme fully.

Unforgettable moments

Another surefire way to earn a Favorite point on your geocache is to create an unforgettable experience. It could be a hunt that’s etched in your memory, a cache that challenges you with difficult terrain, or a puzzle that tests your wits. These are the geocaches that go beyond the quick park-and-grab and tend to offer something more for the hunt.

One example of this is Love Lock ♥ Eeuwige Liefde !?! (GC41QJY). Geocachers must find the container on a bridge full of love locks when they arrive at GZ, creating an unforgettable journey to look for the geocache. The coordinates lead geocachers to the heart of the bridge, where a heart design brings the whole theme together!

Spectacular spots

Lastly, many geocaches have high Favorite points because of their spectacular locations. One of the best reasons to geocache is to get outside and discover the beauty around us. Cache owners love bringing geocachers from near and far to showstopping locations, a lookout point on their favorite hike, stunning architectural and historical buildings, or even natural wonders.

Heart (GC8922D) is an excellent example of a breathtaking location. It offers a view of the most beautiful and inspiring castle on the hill and a tranquil lake stretching for miles. Geocachers have spread their love with this geocache by taking numerous pictures of the heart statue at the end of the dock and with many Favorite points.
