In 2025, we’re celebrating a major milestone—25 years of geocaching! To mark this special anniversary, we’re introducing a new hiding theme per quarter to celebrate geocaches published in 2025. Every three months, we’ll feature geocaches from that quarter’s theme on the Geocaching Blog and social media.

We received so many nominations for our second hiding theme, back to nature, that it was difficult to choose just a few to share!
Take a look at some of the caches that we thought were forces of nature:

1. GCB1MKP—Hike’anne
Cache owner: Perez8 🇺🇸

For their 27th anniversary, Perez8 honored his wife by building a life-size geocache portrait of her reconnecting with nature (while geocaching, of course). The sculpture is even made from recycled CITO materials!

2. GCB6MG1—Ikebukuro Forest 🌳 池袋の森
Cache owner: revue7 🇯🇵

Those who live in big cities know that getting back to nature isn’t always easy. With this delightful cache hidden in Toshima City Ikebukuro Forest, visitors can find their own bit of nature paradise in the heart of Tokyo.

3. GCB5C2P—BACK TO NATURE-CAMPING IN THE WOODS
Cache owner: guitardreaming 🇨🇦

Everyone gets back to nature in their own way. This CO depicts their love of camping in the cutest miniature lock-n-lock scene! Can you spot the cache container in the campground?

4. GC9WY5M—SchwaCuLiGö 26
Cache owner: meeranthro 🇩🇪

You can’t get more natural than a village made out of nature. This adorable moss community not only houses woodland creatures, but also contains a geocache!

5. GCB33CD—La colmena de Apis mellifera
Cache owner: Urbsss 🇪🇸

Have you heard the buzz about bees? This simple and creative Mystery Cache teaches geocachers about the European honey bee, leading to the most charming hive we’ve ever seen. Just make sure you choose the right bee to find the logbook!

6. GCB652W—St. Haralambos and cemetery
Cache owner: hellenicmemes24 🇬🇷

Who said nature can’t be devious too? This well-disguised cache leads visitors to this serene spot where humans and nature come together in harmony. The tricky part is finding the right rock!

7. GCB6K4D—Neulich im Wald Bonus – Die Party
Cache owner: Friedchen7 🇩🇪

Where did all the animals go? After finding the nearby round of Traditional Caches, each with an animal guardian, this cache will lead you to their location where they’re celebrating 25 years of geocaching. We love party animals!

Cache owner: okrutnyb 🇵🇱

This cache ‘quacks’ us up! As part of a series featuring beloved Polish poems, this marvelous Multi-Cache highlights “Kaczka dziwaczka,” or “The Quirky Duck.” Follow this colorful duck through nature to find her nest—and the geocache!

9. GCB77X5—Terénní dobíječka mobilů
Cache owner: Pe_Bo 🇨🇿

This cache takes the nature theme a bit more seriously. Search for this stump and learn how to remove the distraction of your mobile device (by smashing it).

10. GCB5RHX—Seventeen Year Itch
Cache owner: Bullfrogs56 🇺🇸

Those who live in the eastern United States know that every 17 years, they can expect the familiar sound of cicadas returning to nature. In recognition of Brood XIV, this beautiful hand-painted cache reminds visitors that it’s cicada season!

11. GCB7MMW—Kodomo no Mori 練馬区立こどもの森
Cache owner: keroyo 🇯🇵

The Nerima City Children’s Forest encourages kids to get out and play in nature. This cache adds yet another fun activity for all ages!
12. GC6HJD6—Volavky ve Zline
Cache owner: ulicnik 🇨🇿

Located near the city’s heron nests, this cache highlights the life and migration cycle of the Gray Heron. You might even spot one in the cache itself!

13. GCB3QDX—9-Volt Hotel
Cache owner: WippicacheDO 🇩🇪

Is that buzzing noise from the bees or the electricity? This breathtaking bee-themed hide uses some creative elements hidden inside an insect hotel!

14. GCAKCGE—Limite Cretaceo-Terziario K/T del Monte Conero
Cache owner: Lord Yoruno 🇮🇹

Travel back 66 million years! This EarthCache highlights a rock layer that marks a significant extinction in Earth’s history.

15. GCB46EX—KoeHand€l
Cache owner: bouwmeesterb 🇳🇱

Looking to ‘moo-ve’ your body more? Try getting out into nature and finding this cache! Located in agricultural pastureland, this geocache highlights everyone’s favorite bovine. If you guessed ‘cows,’ then ding, you’re correct!

These caches made us want to strap on our hiking boots and get out into nature!
