Geocaching and art intertwine in a unique way! Sometimes the hiding place sparks the creation of the geocache, and other times it enhances the area. This week’s geocache is a perfect blend of both, offering a wonderful artistic experience.

Just outside Helsinki, Finland, lies a warehouse district that’s home to the largest mural collection in the country. This creates a unique opportunity to appreciate these large-scale artworks and the bright geocache that adorns the area.

The map below shows the two main entrances to the murals and the location of the geocache. The exterior paintings can be admired 24/7, while a few are available inside the buildings daily from 5:00 am to 11:30 pm.

Murals cover every wall in sight, but one bright and simple design stands out as the most important one to look out for: the geocache. Painted bright yellow with brown accents, depicting simple designs, is what all geocachers need to look for.

The image below is a clue to what to look for in order to locate the geocache. Attached to the side of the building next to one of the many beautiful murals is a metal box a few feet tall. At the top is a door with a key lock; this is how to get into the cache.

Finding the geocache is only the first step, though; figuring out how to open it is another. The cache owner, Siltanen, left a hint on the cache page to help geocachers access the logbook.

Geocaching and artwork go together, and this geocache makes it obvious. After signing the log, don’t forget to finish the walk around the buildings to admire all of the beautiful art the warehouse walls offer.
