Greetings from Air Mail Hotel (GC5E6EE)!
With World Postcard Day just around the corner, we’re sending a special delivery your way, and this one is coming by airmail. The only problem: you’ll need to take your thinking to new heights to log this find.
Sitting patiently on a welcoming property in Hutchinson, Kansas, one TB hotel towers above the rest. It’s a place where neighbors wave at each other while grabbing their mail, trackables have comfortable accommodation until they continue their mission, and visitors are encouraged to announce their departure with a friendly honk, according to the cache owner, barneybarnes.

The posted coordinates leave little to the imagination. Rising above its surroundings, a remarkably tall mailbox sticks out, only partially camouflaged by the hedge behind it. With the mailbox towering well beyond an easy reach, the real question quickly becomes: how exactly are you supposed to get up there?

The mailbox sits roughly ten feet (three meters) in the air, safely out of reach from even the tallest geocachers. A rod mechanism secures the tall center pole with the attached mailbox between two sturdy support poles. Pull out the metal rod and carefully lower the pole until the mailbox that was once high overhead lies horizontally on the ground. You’re one step closer to success!

You’ve conquered the height, but a closer look reveals the mailbox is locked. Before you start checking your pockets, take another look at those support poles. Lift the cap on one of them and discover the key hidden safely inside. No junk mail here! Unlock the box to reveal the real prize: an ammo can.
And this mailbox isn’t just delivering smiles, it’s helping deliver trackables on their missions. This TB hotel gives trackables and hitchhikers a roomy layover where they can check in, relax, and wait for another geocacher to take them closer to their intended destination. No postage necessary. 😉

Before checking out of Air Mail Hotel, there’s one final delivery to make: your name to the log sheet! Once you’ve signed in and finished any trades, make sure this unusual post office is ready for its next visitor. Lock the mailbox, tuck the key back into its hiding place, then carefully raise the towering post and secure everything exactly as you found it. Signed, sealed, delivered, the find is yours!
Return to sender? Not this time.
