It\u2019s finally 2025! With Block Parties happening around the world in 2025<\/a>, I’ve been reflecting on the first Block Party I attended in 2012 (GC38J9N). Looking at the full calendar reminds me of my own Block Party experiences, and I wanted to share a few tips I learned from the experience! <\/p>\n

I had never attended a large event before and had only been to a few smaller ones, so I was amazed by how many people could fit into the small plaza outside Geocaching HQ. Although I didn\u2019t have much time to spend at the event, I made the most of it by exploring quickly. During my visit, I met Signal the Frog, helped a German geocacher with their scavenger hunt, discovered a trackable Volkswagen Beetle car door, and even received a special trackable from a Lackey to keep! While I had released trackables into the wild before, this one felt different\u2014it was special. I decided to hold onto it, and ever since, it has traveled with me to every geocache I\u2019ve found.<\/p>\n

Here are a few tips for anyone preparing to attend a Block Party or any large geocaching event this year:<\/p>\n

Say hello to everyone! <\/strong>
\nYou never know who you might meet\u2014your next geocaching buddy could be standing right behind you in line.<\/p>\n

Expect the unexpected.<\/strong>
\nYou may be dazzled with innovative Adventures, meet the maker of your favorite cache, or have a trackable you released find its way back to you.<\/p>\n

Say yes! <\/strong>
\nTake part in all the games and activities, attend the panels and info sessions, and join in on everything the organizing teams have planned. They\u2019ve spent countless hours creating unique experiences for geocachers, and you won\u2019t want to miss a single moment!<\/p>\n

Share your story <\/strong>
\nAfter the event, take the time to write a detailed \u201cAttended\u201d log and include photos. Event hosts put a lot of time and energy into creating unforgettable moments for geocachers, and they love hearing your stories and seeing the day through your eyes.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll never forget my first Block Party, and I am guessing you won\u2019t either!<\/p>\n
