For some, it\u2019s about creativity. For others, it\u2019s about location, storytelling, or thoughtful placement.<\/p>\n<p>While it\u2019s easy to point out what doesn\u2019t work\u2014like damaged containers or soggy logs\u2014defining what makes a cache great is much more subjective.<\/p>\n<p>We asked geocachers to share what quality means to them.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Note: some of the responses have been edited for clarity and brevity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u201cA good geocache is one that people talk about later. Not just because they found it, but because it gave them something worth sharing: a laugh, a challenge, a view, or a story.\u201d &#8211; Grady B.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u201cProper maintenance of the cache!\u201d &#8211; Stephanie T.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u201cThe description is important if you\u2019re describing a place or its history. My descriptions are quite long because most of my caches are historical, but even a few sentences, one or two photos, and a background image can make the cache page much better. The description is your showcase\u2014it should encourage people to choose your cache.\u201d &#8211; Robert O.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u201cCaches that involve a puzzle or code cracking to open, pole-fishing caches, and containers that are themed to the area where they are hidden.\u201d &#8211; Jessie-Jo K.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u201cA high quality container. A good location.\u201d &#8211; Shawn G.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u201cA good puzzle with a challenging hike and a good bushwhack leading you to an ammocan well off the trail.
