What if finding the geocache wasn’t the challenge?<\/p>\n

For most geocachers, the adventure begins with a careful search. Eyes scan fence posts, tree roots, and guardrails, looking for the smallest clue that might reveal a hidden container. But visitors to Made in Canada, eh! Coombs (GC8ZC20)<\/a> quickly discover that this week’s Geocache of the Week plays by a different set of rules.<\/p>\n

Instead of blending into its surroundings, this cache proudly stands out.<\/p>\n

Claiming the title of Canada’s largest ammo can cache, the container measures an impressive 4 feet long (1.2 meters), 3 feet high (0.9 meters), and 18 inches wide (45 centimeters). It looks exactly like the classic geocaching container players know and love, just much, much larger. The moment geocachers spot it, the search gives way to laughter, surprise, and an obligatory photo beside the oversized container.<\/p>\n

The giant ammo can didn’t come from a factory. Students in a metal shop program at Kwalikum Secondary School in British Columbia built it with their teacher. Their craftsmanship transformed a familiar geocaching icon into a community-made landmark that has delighted visitors for years.<\/p>\n

The cache has become a destination for geocachers traveling through Vancouver Island. While the coordinates may lead directly to the hide, the real reward is the moment the scale of the container comes into view. Photos posted by visitors tell the story best, with geocachers standing beside the ammo can to capture just how enormous it really is.<\/p>\n

Opening the oversized lid reveals room for an impressive collection of SWAG , trackables, and trading items. As the cache page notes, it\u2019s an excellent place to drop off trackables, and the container has plenty of space to help them continue their journeys.<\/p>\n

Inside the large cache container, a giant pencil and oversized logbook continue the larger-than-life theme, adding another playful step before visitors can sign the log.<\/p>\n
