All of geocaching? No, not all of it, but a very special little Travel Bug\u00ae\u00a0named\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/track\/details.aspx?id=4760673\">TB5JJN1<\/a>\u00a0is tagging along with Nasa astronaut <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AstroRM\">Rick Mastracchio<\/a> on his mission to the ISS.\u00a0Mastracchio will be using the Travel Bug as an educational tool to help teach students around the world about geography and geocaching. Mastraccio will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/geocaching-rockets-into-space-again\/\">Rocket into Space<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a0November 7, 2013 (GMT).\u00a0Every geocacher who attends a Geocaching Event on November 6 or 7, 2013 will be awarded a \u201cGeocaching in Space\u201d souvenir. In additional, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/how-to-make-your-space-event-the-best-of-the-universe\/\">Geocaching in Space Mission Patches<\/a> will be sold, and proceeds will to the educational charity DonorsChoose.org.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>You probably have a few questions about Geocaching in Space. How do I find an Event Cache near me?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The local times for the launch depend on where in the world you&#8217;re watching. Find Event Caches on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/calendar\/default.aspx?date=11\/06\/2013\">November 6<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/calendar\/default.aspx?date=11\/07\/2013\">November 7<\/a>. Don&#8217;t see an event near you? Submit a Geocaching in Space\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/hide\/cachebasics.aspx\">Event Cache<\/a> up to two weeks before the schedule launch.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>4. Is there a way to watch the space craft launch live?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/multimedia\/nasatv\/index.html#.UmAmD1AQZIU\">NASA TV<\/a> will broadcast the launch live. He is currently training for his third travel to the ISS. He will be the Flight Engineer for the team. His geocaching name is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/profile\/?guid=5eb84347-0945-4137-be79-94093485c4f4\">AstroRM<\/a>\u00a0and we think he&#8217;s pretty cool.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>7. Do I have to attend an official space event,\u00a0to receive the &#8220;Geocaching in Space&#8221; souvenir ?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>No. If you log your &#8220;Attended&#8221; for any geocaching event, that is held on November 6th or November 7th 2013 and listed on Geocaching.com, you will receive the souvenir. Events on both days will help commemorate Geocaching in Space.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>8. I am the host, will I get the souvenir too?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Yes. Even though we discourage geocache owners to log their own geocaches, it is completely fine to log an &#8220;Attended&#8221; on your own geocaching event. You deserve it!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>9. What if the launch date changes?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>As this is a \u00a0real rocket launch, the launch date could change. In this case we\u2019ll issue the souvenir for attending an event on November 6 or 7. The same souvenir will also be awarded for events\u00a0on the the actual launch date.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>10. There is a geocache located at the Russian Rocket Base in Central Asia close by. It is called\u00a0<a href=\" http:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/geocache\/GCMGW9_poyekhali\">Poyekhali<\/a>. It currently has 4 finds.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>11. Is there a geocache at the International Space Station?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Yes, indeed there is. Video game developer\u00a0Richard Garriott had a dream come true, when he was travelling to the ISS and hid a <a href=\"http:\/\/coord.info\/GC1BE91\">geocache<\/a>\u00a0there in 2010. Astronaut Rick Mastraccio (AstroRM) will be claiming the FTF over three years after this geocache was hidden.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>12. What are the coordinates of the International Space Station Cache?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>As the geocache on the ISS orbits the earth\u00a015 times every day, it was a challenge to find coordinates for this one-of-a-kind geocache. The geocache owner decided to use coordinates in\u00a0Kazakhstan close to the\u00a0Russian Rocket Base from which the spacecraft will be launching.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Geocaching is heading towards the International Space Station (ISS).
