Earlier this month, three\u00a0amazing\u00a0geocaching teams were nominated for January\u00a02015\u2019s Geocacher of the Month award, and a winner has been chosen.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>As a refresher, here are the nominees&#8230;<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/profile\/?guid=5a815967-aaff-42d6-b74b-231ca8a50457&amp;wid=71ed7083-f178-475a-a454-02c37b868ea8&amp;ds=2\">Timpat<\/a> is known throughout the\u00a0New York\u00a0geocaching community for his impressive hides, supportive nature, and extensive GPS and mapping expertise. With nearly 10,000 finds and 400 hides, he is a true inspiration to all.\u00a0Not to mention, his kayak geocaches are\u00a0amazing.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26701\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26701\" style=\"width: 167px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-26701\" src=\"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/0820de7c-38b3-4c79-a028-656dc0c33c36.jpg\" alt=\"0820de7c-38b3-4c79-a028-656dc0c33c36\" width=\"167\" height=\"125\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26701\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tinman and Timpat<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/profile\/?guid=253b1628-80cc-4c37-822d-7ecd6d359055\"> family Behrens (aka FB)<\/a> has helped geocaching bloom in\u00a0South Africa. He (and his family) are known in the local geocaching community for their\u00a0creative and challenging geocaches (all\u00a088 of them) and for throwing\u00a0well-organized, highly attended CITO events.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26711\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26711\" style=\"width: 166px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/blog\/2015\/02\/three-cheers-for-januarys-geocacher-of-the-month-nominees\/3b0c2482-8303-4ef9-b4f6-0db9a4c1e10c\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-26711\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-26711\" src=\"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/3b0c2482-8303-4ef9-b4f6-0db9a4c1e10c.jpg\" alt=\"3b0c2482-8303-4ef9-b4f6-0db9a4c1e10c\" width=\"166\" height=\"124\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26711\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">T5? No problem for team Behrens<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/profile\/?guid=d8ae5f8f-e414-494e-af45-950b56713dc9\">Koouye<\/a>\u00a0is recognized\u00a0throughout the Belgium geocaching community for being a dynamic, passionate, and devoted geocacher. He is a social butterfly, known for hosting great events\u00a0and for attending other\u2019s events (133\u00a0so far!)<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26719\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26719\" style=\"width: 166px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/blog\/2015\/02\/three-cheers-for-januarys-geocacher-of-the-month-nominees\/ef13566e-e9bb-4beb-b4fe-960175e5049b_l\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-26719\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-26719\" src=\"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/ef13566e-e9bb-4beb-b4fe-960175e5049b_l.jpg\" alt=\"ef13566e-e9bb-4beb-b4fe-960175e5049b_l\" width=\"166\" height=\"124\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26719\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Koouye and his lovely family<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Featured Geocacher of the Month is named by a panel at Geocaching HQ after reviewing community input and blog comments. It\u2019s a tough\u00a0decision, given the combined contributions of these folks to the geocaching community as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>After tallying the sentiment and reading the comments,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/profile\/?guid=253b1628-80cc-4c37-822d-7ecd6d359055\">family Behrens<\/a>\u00a0has been officially\u00a0named the Featured Geocacher of the Month for January 2015.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s no denying that family Behrens or &#8220;FB&#8221; is an unstoppable geocaching force in South Africa. Their father, Jamie, leads the pack with his creative geocache hides and wonderful community organized events. Many would say that their passion and excitement for the game\u00a0has helped geocaching spread like wildfire\u00a0in\u00a0South Africa and surrounding countries.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26870\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26870\" style=\"width: 324px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/blog\/2015\/02\/januarys-geocacher-of-the-month\/b2cac370-a1be-4928-86ce-5858759814bd\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-26870\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-26870\" src=\"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/b2cac370-a1be-4928-86ce-5858759814bd.jpg\" alt=\"b2cac370-a1be-4928-86ce-5858759814bd\" width=\"324\" height=\"432\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26870\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">1000th find!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Finding one of family Behrens&#8217; geocaches is a must. According to the community, they are beyond good, they are legendary. SawaSawa says that Jamie of FB\u00a0&#8220;has become renowned for his wonderful creative caches for which he has garnered numerous Favorite Points and heaps of praise. He has also invented an original &#8216;trademark&#8217; micro-cache design (100% waterproof) made from discarded plastic bottle tops which I have copied and used in many of my hides in Kenya. His ingenuity in cache design and care in preparation is now legendary in South Africa and especially Cape Town and everyone looks forward eagerly to the next FB creation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26873\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26873\" style=\"width: 460px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/blog\/2015\/02\/januarys-geocacher-of-the-month\/f253a9b7-a817-4d21-9802-b491ea4bd842\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-26873\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-26873\" src=\"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/f253a9b7-a817-4d21-9802-b491ea4bd842.jpg\" alt=\"f253a9b7-a817-4d21-9802-b491ea4bd842\" width=\"460\" height=\"259\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26873\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mr. and Mrs. family\u00a0Behrens<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>If you&#8217;re in the area, you should attend an event thrown by this geocaching team. Andre &amp; Jeanne says FB, &#8220;hosts numerous events and CITO&#8217;s. He works together with Table Mountain National Park to do path clearing and removal of alien vegetation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Suikerbossies sums up the winner perfectly,\u00a0&#8220;We love their hides, their unique containers, enthusiasm for the game and trouble they go to to give back to the game, nature and the community!
