What is a Multi-Cache?<\/b><\/h3>\n

Multi-Caches involve two or more locations. The physical container is not at the listed coordinates; instead, you will have to visit multiple locations to learn the coordinates of the final cache.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"How<\/p>\n

Follow these steps to find your first Multi-Cache:<\/span><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0Go to the listed coordinates.<\/h2>\n

The spot where the Multi-Cache is shown on the map is the first set of coordinates, or the first “stage.\u201d Rather than finding the geocache container at this spot, you’ll find information that will lead you to another physical location.\u00a0How this is accomplished will vary \u2014 here are a few common ways it’s done:<\/span><\/p>\n

You may find the complete coordinates for the next stage hidden somewhere at the first location.<\/b><\/p>\n

Example: A sticker with the coordinates printed on it and hidden somewhere at this location.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

You may be asked to find a number, word, or other clue. You’ll need to write this down before moving to the next stage.<\/b><\/p>\n

Example<\/strong>: The second number on the plaque at this location is the ‘X’ in the final coordinates of the cache: N 47\u00b0 37.38X W 122\u00b0 19.197<\/span><\/p>\n

The geocache description may provide the incomplete coordinates for the second stage. You might then be required to count something at the first stage to fill in the blanks.<\/b><\/p>\n

Example: <\/strong>Count the number of flags in front of the UN building to find the ‘X’ in the set of coordinates for the next stage: N 45\u00b0 29.468X W 114\u00b0 23.1543<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Navigate\u00a0to the\u00a0second set of coordinates<\/h2>\n

Once you’ve collected the information required at the first stage, you can move on to the next stage. Enter the coordinates that you obtained from the first stage into your GPS (or <\/span>add a waypoint<\/span><\/a> using the <\/span>geocaching app<\/span><\/a>), and navigate to the new location.<\/span><\/p>\n

The second stage <\/span>could<\/span><\/i> be the final location of the geocache, where you’ll find the physical cache container. If not, you’ll again need to accomplish a task such as the ones described above.<\/span><\/p>\n

When you do, sign the logbook, trade some swag, and do your Multi-Cache happy dance!<\/span><\/p>\n
