In 2017, we\u2019re celebrating geocaching around the world. You\u2019re invited to join Signal the Frog\u00ae as he travels to different countries to geocache like a local. No plane ticket required!<\/span><\/p>\n

Signal\u2019s first stop: Germany. On Thursday, April 13, players will gather to celebrate the 11th annual D\u00f6nerstag. <\/span>You can earn the first-ever D\u00f6nerstag souvenir by attending a geocaching event on that day. <\/b>Keep reading to learn more!<\/span><\/p>\n

About D\u00f6nerstag.<\/strong><\/p>\n

D\u00f6nerstag began in 2007 when German cachers met at kebab shops around the country all at the same time. The tradition caught on!<\/p>\n

These special events are held each year on a Thursday. In German, this makes the name \u201cD\u00f6nerstag\u201d a pun: The German word for Thursday is \u201cDonnerstag.\u201d Kebab translates to \u201cD\u00f6ner.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year, over 6000 players attended 233 D\u00f6nerstag events. The events were held all over Europe, from Germany and Austria to the United Kingdom and Switzerland.<\/p>\n

How to join in.<\/strong><\/p>\n

You\u2019re invited to join in this year\u2019s D\u00f6nerstag from wherever you are in the world. Attend and log a geocaching event on April 13, 2017, to earn the souvenir. You can find events using the geocache search tool<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Remember, geocaching events need to be submitted at least two weeks before the event date. Submit your D\u00f6nerstag events for review no later than March 30, 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n

Note: CITO events do not qualify for this souvenir.<\/p>\n
