The tradition caught on!<\/p>\n<p>These special events are held each year on a Thursday. In German, this makes the name \u201cD\u00f6nerstag\u201d a pun: The German word for Thursday is \u201cDonnerstag.\u201d Kebab translates to \u201cD\u00f6ner.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last year, over 6000 players attended 233 D\u00f6nerstag events. The events were held all over Europe, from Germany and Austria to the United Kingdom and Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to join in.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You\u2019re invited to join in this year\u2019s D\u00f6nerstag from wherever you are in the world. Attend and log a geocaching event on April 13, 2017, to earn the souvenir. You can find events using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/play\/search\">geocache search tool<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remember, geocaching events need to be submitted at least two weeks before the event date. Submit your D\u00f6nerstag events for review no later than March 30, 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Note: CITO events do not qualify for this souvenir.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where is Signal going next?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After his stop in Germany, Signal will travel to other countries with rich geocaching traditions to experience the game like a local.
