{"id":46173,"date":"2017-08-29T08:45:08","date_gmt":"2017-08-29T15:45:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/blog\/?p=46173"},"modified":"2017-08-29T14:50:44","modified_gmt":"2017-08-29T21:50:44","slug":"mission-9-is-alive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/mission-9-is-alive\/","title":{"rendered":"Mission 9 is alive!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On August 17, 2017, Moun10Bike, owner of the long-archived <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/geocache\/GC1169_mission-9-tunnel-of-light\">Mission 9: Tunnel of Light APE cache<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, registered an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/seek\/log.aspx?LUID=8ba096e9-779e-4939-890a-feea0edb80cc\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Owner Maintenance log<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the cache page:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;The enemy agents thought they had us defeated, but we have persevered. T minus thirty-six hours.&#8221;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hundreds of geocachers from around the world converged on the Seattle area over those 36 hours to join the APE cache\u2019s reintroduction\u00a0party. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/blog\/2016\/11\/long-lost-ape-cache-is-found\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rescued from archival<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> last year by a band of local cachers, Mission 9 was reactivated at the 8th annual <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/geocache\/GC6ZBHT_going-ape-2017\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Going Ape 2017<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Mega-Event on August 19. More than 700 Geocaching members have posted Attended logs for Going Ape, and it\u2019s safe to say most of them made the six-mile roundtrip to see the APE cache. A festive atmosphere was created as visitors journeyed through the dark 2.3-mile Snoqualmie Tunnel (a slightly spooky 100-year old railroad tunnel) on their way to and from the APE cache.
