Many geocachers love to explore the world, plan ahead, and achieve caching goals. One of the more common questions we get asked is \u201cWhen is <\/span>[insert recurring geocaching moment]<\/b> this year?\u201d This year, we\u2019re letting people know the dates for annual events, well ahead of time. So cachers, this may be the year that you finally decide to attend an Event Cache or even, *<\/span>GASP!<\/span><\/i>* host your own!<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, we will run several promotions in the coming year (similar to <\/span>Planetary Pursuit<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Hidden Creatures<\/span><\/a>) that we\u2019re not quite ready to announce yet. Make sure to follow the <\/span>Geocaching blog<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Facebook<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Twitter<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>newsletter (sign up <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>) for more information as we roll out those geo-moments.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cache In Trash Out\u00ae, Season 1<\/span>
\n<\/span>Friday, March 1 through Friday, May 31, 2019<\/span><\/h3>\n

We\u2019ve made some changes to CITO in 2019, as announced in <\/span>this recent blog post<\/span><\/a>. Rather than running for one week, we\u2019ve extended each CITO for their entire season! You\u2019ll be able to earn one CITO 2019 Season 1 souvenir by attending or hosting a CITO in March, April, or May 2019. But, of course, you can attend or host many more throughout the year!<\/span><\/p>\n

International Geocaching Day<\/span>
\n<\/span>Saturday, August 17, 2019<\/span><\/h3>\n

Celebrate geocaching! Log any geocache or attend an event on Saturday, August 17, 2019, and earn the International Geocaching Day souvenir. <\/span><\/p>\n

Cache In Trash Out\u00ae, Season 2<\/span>
\n<\/span>Sunday, September 1 through Saturday, November 30, 2019<\/span><\/h3>\n

Also known as Cache In Trash Out\u00ae, the Sequel. \ud83d\ude09 <\/span>
\n<\/span>Just like CITO 2019 Season 1, you\u2019ll earn a separate CITO 2019 Season 2 souvenir by attending or hosting any CITO during September, October, or November 2019. <\/span><\/p>\n

International EarthCache Day<\/span>
\n<\/span>Saturday, October 12 through Sunday, October 13, 2019<\/span><\/h3>\n

Get ready to rock this entire weekend. Find and log any EarthCache to earn the International EarthCache Day souvenir.<\/span><\/p>\n

Geocaching International Film Festival 2019<\/span>
\n<\/span>Thursday, November 7 through Sunday, November 17, 2019<\/span><\/h3>\n

This will be the fifth year for the <\/span>Geocaching International Film Festival<\/span><\/a>, or GIFF. All over the world, geocaching film lovers attend\/host GIFF events that screen selected films made by other geocaching film lovers. From finding new favorite places, people, and puzzles, geocaching is full of moments that should be captured on film and shared with the geocaching world. <\/span><\/p>\n

Goodbye 2019 \/ Hello 2020<\/span>
\n<\/span>Tuesday, December 31, 2019, and Wednesday, January 1, 2020<\/span><\/h3>\n

Whether it\u2019s called <\/span>Goodbye 2015\/Hello 2016<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Last 2017\/First 2018<\/span><\/a>, or <\/span>Thanks 2018\/Hello 2019<\/span><\/a>, you know that geocachers love to celebrate a year of good caching and toast a year of great caching to come! Find any geocache or attend an event on New Year\u2019s Eve then New Year\u2019s Day to earn these souvenirs. <\/span><\/p>\n

Confirmed Geocaching souvenir moments for 2019<\/a><\/blockquote>

We know geocachers love country and regional souvenirs and we do too! This year we will announce <\/span>at least<\/span><\/i> one new country or regional souvenir per month, starting in January (traditionally, we\u2019ve only released five each December). The new country and regional souvenirs will be featured alongside <\/span>Geocaches of the Week<\/span><\/a> in each region and shared on the third Wednesday of each month. <\/span><\/p>\n
