Going on a camping trip is one of the best ways to break out of your daily grind and reconnect with nature, not to mention camping is a fun and relatively low cost way to travel and see new places. For anyone looking to get the most out of their camping trips this season, we\u2019ve got a great tip: add geocaching! Geocaching and camping are a natural pairing. It\u2019s a great way to explore the outdoors and it gets the whole camping crew involved in a fun treasure hunt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Here are four tips to add some geo-magic to any camping trip you take this season:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Keep an eye on attributes<\/strong>
    When picking which geocaches to search for, look at the attributes of the nearby caches, or if you’re a Premium member, filter by them using Advanced search filters. Attributes<\/a> provide information that can help you decide if the geocache matches the kind of outing you\u2019re looking for. If you\u2019re camping with the whole family, look for the \u201cRecommended for kids\u201d attribute. If you want to find an impressive outlook, look for the \u201cScenic view\u201d attribute.

  2. Get off the beaten path<\/strong>
    When you look at the geocaching map and you see a cache with a fair number of finds and Favorite points off the main trail, pay attention. These caches often indicate special spots that could be easily missed and are probably not mentioned in hiking trail or campground descriptions.

  3. Make a List<\/strong>
    Lists are a Premium member feature that makes geocaching while camping much easier. After you\u2019ve decided what caches you want to look for, you can add them to a     List<\/a> to organize your outing, and share it with your camping buddies. Also, most importantly, Lists can be downloaded for offline use so that you can access them even if you are out of cell range.

    If you\u2019re camping in a park or managed campsite, check ahead of time to see if they have rules about geocaching.
