Geocache Description:

Cache is not at the posted coordinates but less than 500m from them

In order to find the coordinates of this cache, you will have to embark on an educational, yet nutty, journey. First and foremost, we would like to spread awareness about food allergies. In Canada, the nine priority food allergens are peanuts, tree nuts, sesame seeds, milk, eggs, seafood, soy, wheat, and sulphites.

Currently, there is no cure for a food allergy. The only option is the complete avoidance of that specific allergen. In the case of N, the allergen in question is a family of nuts, named “tree nuts”. In the case of accidental exposure to tree nuts and the subsequent allergic reaction, the appropriate emergency treatment is an injection of epinephrine (adrenalin), which is always carried by us in the form of his Epipen.

Tree nuts may belong to different food families, which are unrelated to each other. Tree nuts are also not related to peanuts. Peanut allergic people can often eat tree nuts and tree nut allergic people can often eat peanuts. However, there are those that are allergic to both. In addition, you can be allergic to some, but not all tree nuts.

For more information regarding tree nuts, refer to articles written by Dr. Ham Pong. He is a lecturer in the department of pediatrics, University of Ottawa, consultant, Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, and committee member, Regulatory Review Project 19 (labeling of food causing severe adverse reactions in Canadians), joint Agriculture & Agri-Food and Health Canada Committee, Ottawa, Ontario. He also has a private practice in allergy.
