How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

A short multi cache in the New Forest. Parking is available close to the starting coordinates.

Please note, the start point and the calculations were changed on 26th September, 2013.

The cache can be achieved on cycle-friendly paths from here (though there may be some mud for a short stretch) except for a few yards near the man-made object where you could easily push your bike.

This cache was placed in memory of Bob Tate, who was one of the earliest cachers in the UK, and whose appearance with his family (Team Tate) on the original "Inside Out" TV feature was many people's first exposure to geocaching. Tragically Bob died much too soon, and we remember him with this cache.

Finding the cache
Find a post with some numbers on at the top in black on white, but not the large numbers- you want the six small numbers that come after two letters: ABCDEF

Follow obvious tracks (no need for bushwhacking) to the next point at
N 50 49.(A+E) (B+F) B W 001 32.(B+F) (E+F) (F-C)
This second point is between 0.3 and 0.5 miles from the start point - if you make it much more or less, I suggest you check your numbers!

At point two you're at an obvious man-made structure: the red warning sign has a large single digit G and the structure itself has H green panels. Now head for the final cache at
N 50 49. (H - B) (G - A) D W 001 32. H (F + B) B

As before you're on good tracks with only the last few feet off the path.

This cache is located within the New Forest. The rules specified here must be applied by any cacher hunting this cache and by hunting this cache you have accepted these conditions. These rules have been applied in the placement of this cache and the cache owner remains responsible for the cache as specified.
