A great place to get off Hwy 395 and enjoy the valley... just be careful of the wind!
NO ACCESS FROM HWY 395!!
Use Eastlake Blvd.
This is a wonderful vantage point to overlook the whole valley. Great place to stretch your legs before or after you drive through Washoe Valley.
Best accuracy I could get was 14-18 feet, so let me know if you get better coords.
The Cache
North and South bound traffic can access this area. There are no restrictions on entering. The cache is an ammo box hidden in the usual Nevada style (if you don't know what that is, consider yourself lucky). Please re-hide with the GC.com sticker facing up.
The Area
From here you have a great view of Washoe Valley. To the northwest is Slide Mountain, to the east is the back side of Mt. Davidson, and to the south is McClellan Peak. Easy way to spot these peaks is to look for the radio towers. We tend to rush through this valley so fast on Hwy 395 - a mere 70MPH if you want to risk doing the minimum! This is the perfect spot to pull over and admire this serene valley. All year long the scenery is amazing and extremely photogenic.
If you want an enjoyable drive, when you leave, take old Highway 395 and make your way onto Franktown Rd. It curves along the foot of the mountains and is surrounded by pine trees. It will eventually reconnect with 395 at both the north and south ends of the valley.
