Geocache Description:

This cache is part of our Haytor view series which includes 5 areas all within sight of Haytor

This involves an uphill walk but from the top on a clear day you will be rewarded with fantastic views. Depending on which way you go up keep a look out for a recumbent cross and three abandoned millstones. The cross is the only one on the moor to be cut in relief on the bedrock, and presumably was not intended to be set erect. Its purpose is unknown - a memorial perhaps or a shield against the angry spirits buried under the summit cairns? - but it is almost certainly many hundreds of years old. You will also find a trig point which once disappeared!

7.5.19 UPDATED You are looking now for a small round screw-top plastic pot with a 35mm type pot inside with a GEOCACHING LOGO LOG. YOU WILL NEED TO TAKE AT LEAST ONE PEN/CIL WITH YOU TO SIGN YOUR GEOCACHING NAME ON THIS LOG IF YOU WISH TO LOG THIS CACHE AS FOUND OR PHOTO OF LOG UPLOADED WITH YOUR FOUND IT LOG = NO SIGNATURE=NO SMILEY!!!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BE AWARE THAT DARTMOOR HAS MANY DIFFERENT SIZES AND QUALITIES OF PLASTIC OR METAL CONTAINERS HIDDEN ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE = THESE ARE CLASSIFIED AS DARTMOOR LETTERBOXES WHICH WILL OR WILL NOT CONTAIN A RUBBER STAMP AND SOME SORT OF LOG BOOK OR PAPER = BUT DO NOT HAVE THE GEOCACHING LOGO, SO BEWARE!
